• ๐Ÿ“… On January 19, 2024, the launch meeting of the Wallis and Futuna Facility, the first of the GO Program, took place.

Madame Ateliana MAUGATEAU, Head of the Territorial Environmental Service ๐ŸŒฑ, is leading this project to support the development of eco-construction in Wallis and Futuna, in consultation with relevant territorial services ๐Ÿ—๏ธ.

๐Ÿ Due to its remoteness, the Territory of the Islands of Wallis and Futuna heavily relies on imports, with an energy dependency rate close to 100%. In line with the Multi-Year Energy Program approved in 2017, Wallis and Futuna has set a goal of achieving 50% renewable electricity by 2030 and 100% by 2050.

๐Ÿ‘‰ To meet these commitments, the Territory aims to work on both the development of renewable energy and the reduction of energy consumption. Actions are needed to promote eco-construction, as a significant portion of electricity consumption is related to the air conditioning of homes, businesses, and public buildings, as well as user habits.

  • ๐Ÿ— The GO Facility in Wallis and Futuna aims to contribute to the development of eco-construction in the region as part of the Territory's energy and environmental transition. Eco-construction involves optimizing new or existing buildings in terms of energy efficiency (eco-gestures), energy system efficiency, bioclimatic design (sun protection, greenery, natural ventilation, insulation), use of sustainable and local materials, integration of renewable electricity, and carbon emissions reduction.

Mr. Mohamed Abdesselam, Director of SOLENER โ˜€, and his partner, Mr. Laurent PIPET, from ALTER, have been selected to implement this Facility ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ.

3๏ธโƒฃ Elaboration of an eco-renovation project for a public building in Wallis and Futuna, with ambitious eco-construction goals, serving as an example for the entire Territory.
