GO Programme objectives

  • Through a series of innovative initiatives and international collaborations, the GO programme aims to promote concrete and effective solutions to environmental challenges, while integrating an egalitarian approach, particularly with regard to gender. The aim is to ensure that public policies and practices in the field of energy transition and resilience are adapted, ambitious and accessible to all, within an inclusive and sustainable framework.

  • The GO Program has two specific objectives:
    1. Accelerate the energy transition of European and British Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs), by supporting projects and policies that promote better management of energy resources and the implementation of sustainable energy solutions.
    2. Strengthen the resilience of OCTs to climate change, by integrating adaptation measures and strategies to better respond to the impacts of climate change on these territories, while mainstreaming gender equality in all initiatives.

To achieve these goals, the program aims for two key outcomes:
    - Help improve OCT public policies on energy transition and climate resilience.
    - Promote and share OCT best practices in energy transition and climate resilience.

  • In 2021, the GO team successfully conducted extensive consultations, including bilateral exchanges with almost all beneficiary countries and territories, and multilateral thematic workshops on energy and resilience that ran from November 2021 to January 2022.

  • Activities:

At the end of the consultation phase, two main implementation activities were selected to achieve the objectives of the GO Program:

The GO Facility: each beneficiary country or territory is invited to submit applications for specific activities at national/territorial level within a predetermined maximum financial range. This approach makes it possible to support concrete local initiatives with tailored technical expertise.
The GO Communities: a community consists of several series of activities at regional and interregional level involving all or groups of beneficiary countries and territories. They include hybrid workshops, e-learning, and best practice collections, and promote the exchange of ideas and mutual learning between different territories, strengthening cooperation and the sharing of effective solutions.
