• As climate challenges continue to intensify, adaptation and resilience have become critical priorities for policymakers worldwide. Bringing together 48 participants from diverse sectors and countries, the GO "Climate Change Resilience" workshop in Brussels provided a dynamic platform to explore concrete solutions for strengthening climate governance.

  • The first day kicked off with an introduction to the GO Climate Change Resilience (CCR) Community, setting the stage for four days of collaboration and learning. An ice-breaker session allowed participants to connect, exchange expectations, and build a strong foundation for the week ahead. This was followed by a refresher on the fundamentals of climate adaptation, highlighting key principles for integrating resilience into public policies, legislation, and regulatory frameworks.

    In the afternoon, participants engaged in a hands-on exercise using the Quick Governance Scan Tool, a self-assessment tool designed to evaluate and enhance climate governance. Ramboll and ODI also shared key insights from their research, including:

    • A review of over 150 climate-related public policies;
    • Specialized training sessions on climate resilience;
    • A best practice catalog showcasing adaptive policy approaches;
    • A standardized framework to improve resilience governance.
  • The second day focused on climate risk assessment and climate justice, with discussions centered on:

    • Access to climate data, emphasizing the need for localized data and advanced risk assessment models;
    • The role of climate services in shaping effective public policies;
    • Socio-spatial inequalities in climate vulnerability, explored through the Climate Justice Framework.

    The day concluded with a screening of the documentary "Climate Blueprint", followed by an engaging discussion with Emily Wilkinson, a leading expert on climate resilience.
