• The GO Energy Transition Community (ETC) - Sustainable Transport and Mobility workshop, held in São Miguel, Azores, brought together representatives from 13 OCTs to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable mobility. Over three days, experts and decision-makers worked together to identify appropriate strategies, share best practices and explore innovative solutions for an efficient and resilient energy transition.

  • Opened by Francisco Duarte da Silva Bettencourt, Regional Director of Mobility, the three-day event enabled participants to identify strategies adapted to their territories. The workshop began with a presentation of the specific challenges facing each OCT and the best practices highlighted by Th!nk E in the GO ETC Catalogue. Interactive working groups were then set up to structure a strategic approach to the challenges identified.

The following days were devoted to exploring concrete solutions, with presentations by representatives from the Azores on sustainable mobility, and from Bermuda on electrification of public transport. Participants also discovered key infrastructures, such as the V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) charging system and the Pico Vermelho geothermal power plant, which illustrate the potential of renewable energies for more sustainable mobility.

The workshop concluded with a collective reflection aimed at identifying the next steps to accelerate the OCTs' energy transition. These exchanges made it possible to strengthen cooperation and define concrete actions for more resilient, environmentally-friendly transport.
